McMinnville, OR (PRWEB) March 01, 2012

Noted actor Kyle MacLachlan will launch Oregons famed International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) for its 26th annual event July 27-29, 2012. Each year the IPNC brings a keynote speaker to launch the weekend’s festivities and give guests a new perspective on Pinot noir. Kyle MacLachlan founded Pursued by Bear wine and is best known for his appearances in hit movies Dune and Blue Velvet and on television shows “Twin Peaks,” “Sex & the City,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Portlandia.” During the weekend, world-renowned winemakers, northwest chefs, esteemed media, epicures and wine lovers will gather in McMinnville, Oregon for three days of exploring prized Pinots, savoring unforgettable meals and learning and celebrating with luminaries of the food and wine world.

IPNC Grand Seminar Host Allen Meadows, well-known for his unsurpassed expertise on Burgundy, will lead weekend guests on a tour through vineyards of Chambolle-Musigny, Ech?zeaux, Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vougeot. Guests will taste examples and hear from winemakers Bertrand Ambroise of Maison Ambroise, Gr?gory Gouges of Domaine Henri Gouges, Jacques Lardi?re of Maison Louis Jadot and Philippe & Vincent L?cheneaut of Domaine L?cheneaut. These five outstanding winemakers are bringing some true gems from their cellars to help guests experience the charm of each village. Allens thoughtful and considered approach to tasting will heighten and enrich attendees enjoyment of Burgundy for years to come.

The theme for the 26th annual IPNC is The University of Pinot. Allen Meadowss morning seminar on the wines of Burgundy will be billed as Study Abroad in Burgundy while the afternoon will be filled with small seminar-style classes and tastings. A sampling of course offerings includes Flying Winemakers (Applied Cultural Studies 201), which explores the lives of winemakers who make Pinot noir on more than one continent, The Coolest of the Cool (Climatology 201), a tasting and discussion of why winemakers choose to grow Pinot noir in the most marginal of climates, Sensory Evaluation of Pinot Noir (Pinot 101), a guided, how-to tasting with Josh Raynolds of Stephen Tanzers International Wine Cellar.

Highly regarded as one of the worlds finest wine events, the IPNC also is praised as a showcase for the Northwests famed farm-to-table cuisine. This year, more than 60 chefs from the regions most revered restaurants will cook for IPNC guests over the course of the weekend. Friday nights Grand Dinner line up includes Dustin Clark of Wildwood, Chris Israel of Gr?ner, Gabriel Rucker of Le Pigeon & Little Bird, and pastry chef Kristen D. Murray, formerly of Paleys Place, who will prepare a sumptuous multi-course meal specifically designed to pair with Pinot noir. Saturday nights beloved Northwest Salmon Bake will feature chefs Andrew Biggs of Hunt & Gather Catering, Benjamin Dyer, Jason Owens and David Kreifels of Laurelhurst Market and Jason Stoller Smith of Timberline Lodge.

Along with the speakers and chefs, it is the relaxing and festive atmosphere that sets the IPNC apart from all other wine events. Whether tasting Grand Cru Burgundy or walking through Oregon vineyards with the grower who planted them, guests find themselves unwinding in picturesque Oregon wine country for what Eric Asimov, wine writer for the New York Times, describes as one of those rare wine gatherings that works on every level.

Tickets for the full event, held on July 27 29, include exclusive access to all seminars, tastings, tours and activities, as well as all meals over two days and the Sunday Sparkling Brunch Finale. Tickets are $ 975 and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Two additional University of Pinot post-grad seminar options will be available for an additional fee. Women for Women International to co-host premiere of new Angelina Jolie movie In the Land of Blood and Honey

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 02, 2011

Women for Women International announced today they are partnering with the Council on Foreign Relations to co-host Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolies new film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, on Monday, December 5 in New York City.

Women for Women International, which was founded because of the Bosnian War in 1993 and the rape of over 20,000 women there, is an organization dedicated to helping women of all ethnicities whove been affected by war to rebuild their lives. Fittingly, the first office they opened was in war-torn Bosnia and Herzegovina back in 1994, and the organization has since expanded their work into seven other countries of conflict including Afghanistan, Iraq and Congo. Women for Women International Founder Zainab Salbi said, Its ironic after nearly two decades of working in war-torn countries as we are in Congo, rape is still a fundamental issue. Its time this stopped once and for all, and were glad In the Land of Blood and Honey brings light back to this hugely important issue. It reminds the world about the atrocities women face in war and that we are a long way from stopping these atrocities.

Set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War that tore the Balkan region apart in the 1990s, the movie tells the story of Danijel and Ajla, two Bosnians from different sides of the brutal ethnic conflict. The film portrays the incredible emotional, moral, and physical toll that the war takes on individuals as well as the consequences that stems from the lack of political will to intervene in a society stricken by conflict.

For nearly two decades Women for Women International has been helped over 316,000 women survivors of war to move from crisis and poverty, to stability and self-sufficiency. Although the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina ended more than 15 years ago, it toppled the economy and political system and shattered lives. Women are still struggling today: to heal, to recover and to reunite. Women for Women Internationals programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina include direct financial aid, rights awareness classes, job and business skills training, and emotional support, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

The Bosnian War claimed over 100,000 lives and over two million people were driven from their homes. In partnering with the Council on Foreign Relations for the premiere of In the Land of Blood and Honey, Women for Women International hopes people will be reminded how victims of war, particularly women, need ongoing support in post conflict countries.
